Mr Simon Hodgson
Biography
Simon Hodgson joined the Forestry Commission as Chief Executive of Forest Enterprise England in 2005, managing all the Forestry Commission forests in England. He took wider responsibilities as Chief Executive of Forestry Commission England 2011-2013 and returned to Forest Enterprise fully in 2013 until 2018 when he moved onto a position in Scotland.
Prior to joining Forestry Commission, Simon held senior leadership positions for West Midlands Regional Assembly, South West Regional Development Agency, Rural Development Commission (RDC), Woodland Trust and TCV.
Simon sits on the Board of Grown in Britain, promoting home grown timber as a Director of the Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA). Simon is a Board member of Camping in the Forest (CITF) and the Chief Executive of Forest Enterprise. Simon chairs and provides leadership to the FE Strategy Board and Executive Team. Simon acts as an Additional Departmental Accounting Officer for FE ensuring FE has robust plans, strategies and systems for the management of all its activities, preparing and implementing financial and investment plans for FE and implementing the governments preferred approach to delivering its commitment to keep the Public Forest Estate in trust for the nation.
