Simon James
Biography
Simon was appointed as a non-executive director of the SIA in July 2022.
Career
Simon has more than thirty years’ experience in commercially oriented Board-level finance and risk roles. He has held roles within large private sector businesses, including leading consultancy and FCA regulated investment banking and within consultancy organisations including PwC, KPMG, and HSBC. He has also worked in the public sector health environment, including the NHS.
He is currently Chief Financial Officer at the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the professional body for the automotive sector and Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.
Simon is a Non-Executive Director of the University of Surrey combining public research and teaching, with a £315m turnover. He is also a Non-Executive Director of The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB), a membership organisation for the UK’s qualifications and assessments industry. Simon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Simon has been appointed to the Authority for a term of three years.
