Simon Middlemas

Biography

A chartered engineer, Simon spent his early career in the Royal Navy nuclear submarine service with sea appointments in nuclear submarines interspaced with shore support jobs, one of which was the Naval Superintendent at Vulcan.

In 2004 he joined Dounreay, becoming the Managing Director in 2006. He left Dounreay in 2012 following the NDA competition for ownership of DSRL, becoming the Managing Director of UK Projects in Cavendish Nuclear. Since 2014 he has supported Cavendish Dounreay Partnership socio economic activities, the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership and been involved in diverse projects such as the satellite vertical launch spaceport project in Sutherland.

He is on several boards in the local area including the Caithness Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in community life, being the President of the local branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, Thurso Branch.
