Dr Stuart Mauchline
Biography
Building on from an active postgraduate research career in basic and applied bacteriology, including the development of statutory regulations for the control of infection, and undertaking outbreak investigations, Stuart has continued to indulge his passion for useful science through leading and managing science and technology (S&T). This has included being a programme manager in the UK research councils (BBSRC) and more recently in the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). His focus continues to be achieving practical benefits from S&T, enabling and driving innovation, which he did as a technology transfer manager in MOD’s Defence Diversification Agency - spinning technology into and out of defence, and working closely with Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) to increase innovation in the supply chain. Over the last few years he has been leading Dstl’s innovation and emerging technology programme and is now excited to be expanding his contribution to the Defence Innovation Initiative into providing leadership to the creation and operation of the Defence and Security Accelerator.
