Sujeevan Satheesan

Biography

Sujeevan Satheesan was appointed as the British Consul General in Houston in July 2024. He is responsible for the UK’s bilateral relations with Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and New Mexico.

Sujeevan’s career has included working in both the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and in financial services, at PWC and Lloyds Banking Group. He has a deep knowledge of global economic issues from having worked on the London G20 Summit and with financial institutions in the City of London.

Most recently, Sujeevan worked within the FCDO’s Europe Directorate. He also held roles where he led the UK’s bilateral relations with Japan, South Korea, Mexico, France and other countries. Sujeevan has previously been Spokesperson at the British Embassy in Paris and the Civil Law Counsellor at the UK Representation to the EU in Brussels. He supported numerous overseas visits by Prime Ministers Tony Blair and David Cameron, several Cabinet Ministers and 2 visits to France by Her Late Majesty The Queen.

Sujeevan is a fluent French and Tamil speaker and an intermediate Spanish speaker. He has been in the Diplomatic Service since 2001 and has Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in English from Oxford University.
