Dr Susan Tranter
Biography
Susan was appointed as Chair of the Ofqual Board in January 2025, for a period of 3 years.
Susan has also been a member of the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel since June 2018.
In addition she is the executive head teacher of Edmonton County School and chief executive of EdAct, a multi-academy trust with 5 schools across north London. Susan is also a member of Ofsted’s behaviour and attendance external reference group and a director of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The chair of the board is responsible for leading the board and overseeing the governance of Ofqual.
The chair makes sure that the:
- board’s strategic direction is carried out by the organisation
- organisation carries out its statutory duties and responsibilities
