Thomas Barry
Biography
Tom Barry is Director for National and Economic Security at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Tom was previously Deputy Director for Geoeconomics and Deputy Director for Strategic Planning at the FCDO. He was head of International Engagement and Negotiation for the Bletchley Park AI Safety Summit in 2023. Before this, Tom was Political and Economic Minister-Counsellor at the British Embassy in Paris between 2018 to 2023, and the Deputy High Commissioner to Canada from 2014 to 2018. He has also served in the British Embassies in Washington and Mexico City.
Tom has a degree in economics from Clare College, Cambridge and an MSc in economics from Warwick.
