Tim Flear OBE MVO
Biography
Tim is a career diplomat. From 2011 to 2014 Tim worked in UK Trade and Investment’s (UKTI) London headquarters. His previous job was promoting the UK’s creative industries sector, in particular from an inward investment perspective.
Tim has had diplomatic postings in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul where he headed the embassy’s inward investment operation and science and technology activities. His last overseas posting was as Her Majesty’s Consul General in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from 2006 to 2010, in a predominately trade and investment-related role.
At other points in his career Tim has been a Deputy Director for policy and communications in the FCO’s Consular Directorate and - relevant to Milan and 2015 - the FCO’s Expo lead and British representative to the Paris-based International Bureau of Expositions.
He was made a member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) by Her Majesty The Queen in 1989 during a State Visit to Malaysia.
