Victoria Davies
Biography
Victoria Davies was the senior lawyer managing the Legal Transport Team at the Welsh Government until her appointment as Traffic Commissioner.
Victoria Davies was appointed as the Traffic Commissioner for Wales in February 2020.
Career
Victoria has over 25 years legal experience as a government and regulatory lawyer. She worked as a senior advisory lawyer at the Welsh Government for ten years. Before that, Victoria spent eight years working for DfT as a senior lawyer for various divisions, including the Road Transport Advisory Division. Victoria has also worked in the advisory and litigation teams of the Health and Safety Executive Solicitor’s Office, and as a procurator fiscal depute prosecuting criminal cases in Scotland.
Traffic Commissioner for Wales
Responsibilities are:
- the licensing of the operators of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and of buses and coaches known as Public Service Vehicles (PSVs)
- the registration of local bus services
- granting vocational licences and taking action against drivers of HGVs and PSVs
