Details

The interim outcomes of the 2-part consultation (Future Homes Standard consultation and Future Buildings Standard consultation) are being implemented through a statutory instrument and new approved documents which will deliver an uplift in energy efficiency standards for new homes and buildings, improved ventilation and a requirement to mitigate any overheating in residential buildings.

The policy changes affect new dwellings and non-domestic buildings in England, existing dwellings and non-domestic buildings in England when undertaking specific building works, and new residential buildings in England.

The impact assessments relate to the elements of the consultation which are proposed to be introduced from 2021. They do not consider the costs and benefits of the Future Homes or Future Buildings Standards, which are proposed to be introduced from 2025. Before these Standards are introduced, the government will consult on the full technical details and produce an associated impact assessment.
