A. Hak UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the glacial till and alluvium, and the Penrith Sandstone at Brougham within an area formed by straight lines between National Grid References (NGRs) NY 54713 29225, NY 55654 29216, NY 55648 28767 and NY 54706 28776 and transfer it to streams at Brougham at NGRs NY 54885 29003, NY 54925 28942, NY 55600 28948 and NY 55595 28897 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 900 cubic metres an hour

  • 21,600 cubic metres a day

  • 1,987,200 cubic metres a year
