Request
Can the department provide information concerning A level and GCSE results from 2008 to 2009 of students from a British-Somali background in Islington and Camden? Specifically, the total number of children who sat for these exams.
Release
Please find the available data in the tables below. Please note that Somali pupils are recorded as Black-Somali on the school census rather than British-Somali, and that the coverage is for maintained schools (including academies and CTCs), so students in separate sixth-form colleges will not have been included.
There is only a small number of pupils recorded as Black-Somali in either Camden or Islington for these age groups, so it is difficult to draw any firm conclusions about what the data shows. In the case of Islington, there are so few A level students that the values have been suppressed. This has been done to protect the identity and results of these students.
Further information on A level and GCSE results, as well as attainment by pupil characteristics, including ethnicity, is available from the publication’s section.
