This report reviews existing evidence surrounding the compliant environment and compares practices relating the regulation of access to work, benefits and services in the UK to those in other countries.
The report is in two parts. The first is a rapid evidence assessment of existing academic and grey literature on the compliant environment published between July 2014 and August 2020, exploring key research themes and gaps.
The second is a comparison between how the UK, Germany, France and Spain manage access to public services, aiming to explore what lessons can be drawn from other countries and how international evidence can be best used in the wider compliant environment evaluation.
