Clinical Excellence Awards recognise and reward NHS consultants and academic GPs who perform ‘over and above’ the standard expected of their role.

Employer-based awards are the responsibility of individual trusts. They are no longer run by the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA). They are not dependent on the timing of the national awards round.

NHS Employers and the British Medical Association have agreed on revised local clinical excellence awards guidance 2018 to 2021 (England).
