In October 2021, HMRC’s Accounting Officer undertook a review of the CHIEF Transition Programme.

This programme was established to deliver the changes required to ensure that HMRC can continue to run CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import Export Freight) alongside CDS (Customs Declaration Service) as part of HMRC’s dual run approach.

The Accounting Officer concluded that the programme is value for money and deliverable.
