Mr Mitchell left his role at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in July 2024.

Senior Advisor, African Development Bank

Mr Mitchell sought the Committee’s advice about taking up a role with the African Development Bank. The letter containing the Committee’s consideration and the conditions imposed on the appointment was sent in February 2025 and the appointment was taken up in April 2025. An accessible version of the letter is available here.

Mr Mitchell left his previous role as Secretary of State for International Development in September 2012, before re-joining government. The Committee’s correspondence to Mr Mitchell following his previous departure from government in 2012 is also listed on this page.
