Details

This document is the advice to government from Advisory Committee on Releases to the Environment (ACRE) on an application (ref. C/NL/13/01) to market carnation flowers genetically modified for petal colour and herbicide tolerance. GM marketing applications are decided at EU level and ACRE’s advice has informed the opinion the UK has sent to the European Commission.

The committee decided that these carnations would not pose a risk to human health or the environment and confirmed it agreed with the assessment by the Netherlands which is leading on this application for the EU.
