MHRA became aware of “shelf-edge” promotional material for Nurofen Plus (ibuprofen & codeine) issued by Reckitt Benckiser which was displayed in a pharmacy. The material included the statement “When you Need More from your Pain Killer”. MHRA was concerned that, by presenting the words “Need More” and “Painkiller” more prominently than the remaining text, the material did not promote the rational use of the medicine.
Reckitt Benckiser confirmed that they would withdraw the material and committed not to issue promotional material with the same design layout in future.
