MHRA received a complaint from a member of the public about promotional material for Syndol Headache Relief Tablets by Sanofi, which includes paracetamol, codeine and caffeine. The complainant was concerned that the material suggested it was the same as, or a reformulation of Syndol Caplets, which is another product.
MHRA did not uphold the complaint.
No materials aimed at the public referred to Syndol Caplets, which was previously available. All materials for healthcare professionals included the name of the product, the indication and active ingredients. We advised Sanofi to ensure the name of the specific product being promoted is always clear when reference is made to the ‘Syndol’ umbrella brand.
