MHRA received a complaint about media coverage of a video advert for BronchoStop produced by Omega Pharma. The complainant was concerned that the advert illustrated celebrity endorsement of a medicine.

MHRA did not uphold the complaint as the company had only made the advert available on password-protected sites restricted to healthcare professionals. MHRA did criticise Omega Pharma for failing to take adequate steps to ensure that the celebrity and his PR agency understood how the legal restrictions on celebrity endorsement of medicines applied to them.
