The Advisory Committee provides additional advice to HM Treasury. It has met as necessary since the spring and usually at least weekly.

The role of the Committee is to provide expert advice in relation to the assessment of the government’s credit risk stemming from financial applications from certain cases to borrow through the Energy Markets Financing Scheme (EMFS). The Committee also advises on cases involving possible bespoke financial intervention.
The Committee acts in an advisory capacity. The views of the Committee form part of the advice to ministers on individual cases. Its membership is drawn from the Civil Service and wider public sector.
