A.E. & W.A. Farr Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising Lower Greensand at Baldock, Hertfordshire at National Grid Reference TL 25610 36560.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 23 cubic metres an hour

  • 1,841 cubic metres a day

  • 91,000 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 30 September inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for direct spray irrigation.

The application follows the lapsing of a licence with the same volumes and abstraction point.
