Affinity Water Limited: application made to abstract water

Affinity Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 8/36/17/*G/0082 which authorises the abstraction of water from Underground strata at National Grid References: TM 05 34, TM 03 35, TM 02 38, TM 08 36, TM 05 32, TM 10 31 and TM 02 37.
The variation applied for is to:

Cap the annual average quantity with effect from 1 April 2025 to recent actual at 23,450 cubic metres per day (8,559,000 cubic metres per year)

Apply a 5 year annual rolling aggregate, which equivalates to 5 x the recent actual rate (117,250 cubic metres per day or 42,795,000 cubic metres over the 5 year period).

Apply a maximum peak cap of 79,700 cubic metres per year to the abstraction point on aggregated licence 8/36/19/*G/0161 at National Grid Reference 08 35.

Remove abstraction point at National Grid Reference: TM 10 31.

Request an uplift to the instantaneous rates to ensure daily rates can be met, with no increase in the annual quantity.

The maximum annual quantity for this licence is 8,559,000 cubic metres per year.
