Details of the application

Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/24/0043 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata (sand and gravel) at Newbold Quarry, Barton-under-Needwood, at National Grid References SK 20720 19540.

The variation applied for is:

1) to add SK 20270 19610 as an abstraction point;

2) to increase the licensed quantities for mineral washing to

  • 1,265 cubic metres an hour
  • 20,227 cubic metres a day
  • 3,534,461 cubic metres a year;

3) to add wheel washing as a purpose with the following quantities:

  • 126 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,008 cubic metres a day
  • 287,280 cubic metres a year;

4) to add dust suppression as a purpose with the following quantities:

  • 54 cubic metres an hour
  • 486 cubic metres a day
  • 138,510 cubic metres a year.
