Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract groundwater from an unlined excavation comprising dolerite intruded in to slates and cherts at Greystone Quarry, Launceston within the area of National Grid References SX 36190 80505, SX 36610 80505, SX 36610 80200 and SX 36190 80200. Water will be transferred to a settlement pond before being discharged to the River Tamar at Launceston, at National Grid Reference SX 36780 80530 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

The proposed abstraction falls within the Tamar Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy.
The proposal is to dewater groundwater as necessary in the course of the working of the quarry.
