Details of the application

Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for four licences within the Lower Trent and Erewash catchment.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

All abstraction will take place within the area bounded by the following National Grid References (NGRs): SK 80759 85433, SK 81997 85433, SK 81997 83797, and SK 80759 83797.

The applications for licences to abstract water are as follows:

Further details are:

  • The purpose of the proposed licences is to enable the operation of Sturton Le Steeple Quarry.
  • Discharges related to licence applications NPS/WR/040458 and NPS/WR/042940 will be to a lagoon and recharge trench respectively, both at Sturton Le Steeple Quarry, Nottinghamshire. The lagoon and recharge trench will both be located within the area bounded by NGRs SK 80759 85433, SK 81997 85433, SK 81997 83797, and SK 80759 83797.
  • Discharges related to licence application NPS/WR/042941 will be to the River Trent  at Sturton Le Steeple, Nottinghamshire, at National Grid Reference SK 80933 85699, and will take place subject to discharge permit NPSWQD006845.
  • The transfer licences will transfer water between sources of supply without intervening use.
