Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising of limestone from the area delineated by National Grid References NZ 01505 14264, NZ 02414 14384, NZ 02387 14133 and NZ 01417 14061.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 162 cubic metres an hour

  • 1,540 cubic metres a day

  • 382,920 cubic metres a year

  • between 01 January and 31 December inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for mineral washing, dust suppression and wheel washing.
