Aggregate Industries UK Limited: application made to abstract water

Aggregate Industries UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0032/002 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of sand and gravel at Uttoxeter Quarry for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to the River Tean at National Grid Reference SK 09283 34841.
The variation applied for is to extend the existing abstraction area to incorporate the extension of the quarrying, the new area is enclosed by National Grid References SK 09400 36218, SK 10692 35907, SK 10761 34253 and SK 08663 34886 whilst also removing points A and B. The variation is also to include a new purpose of “transfer for the purpose of subsequent mineral washing use” and to increase the authorised abstraction quantities to:

at an instantaneous rate not exceeding 333 litres a second.
