Airworthiness for military aircraft practitioner

Course aim

The 5 day AMAC Practitioner course provides delegates with an understanding of airworthiness organizations, policies and processes. The lectures are a combination of academic learning by Cranfield University academic staff and high level briefs by MAA and military subject matter specialists.

The target audience for this course are Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA)/whole platform, multiple system or cross platform Letter of Airworthiness Authority (LoAA) Holders within the project team environment and Front Line Command (FLC) Chief Air Engineers, Military Continuing Airworthiness Managers (MilCAM) and Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Managers (DCAM) plus others managing airworthiness. Applicants should review their suitability for this course with their TAA and Aviation Duty Holder (ADH) and refer to the MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) if applicable.

Applicants are expected to be familiar with the role of Delivery teams and Continuing Airworthiness Organizations (CAMO) and prepared to engage fully in group discussions and technical debates. Delegates attending AMAC-P should be experienced in conducting airworthiness activities and familiar with the principles of academic learning and capable of exploring subject matter further at Level 5 and 6 academic standards.

The course has a compulsory assessment set by Cranfield University and a post course assignment can be selected to gain academic credits.

Entry requirements

Although no formal qualifications are specified for entry to the course, selection is based upon the following priorities:

  1. senior officers and civil servants (Professional II / C1 or above) who exercise or are about to exercise formally delegated airworthiness authority for a whole platform or multiple systems
  2. personnel enrolled on the Military Aerospace and Airworthiness Suite (MAAS)
  3. other applicants on a fill up basis, depending on suitability and at the discretion of the course sponsor
  4. places are also available to overseas military forces
