Following consultations in 2021 and 2022, it has been agreed to launch a community quota trial in Cornwall and a quota application mechanism which is open to English registered sectoral vessels.

The trial in Cornwall will operate for three years from 2024. The trial will look to support a number of areas including helping new entrants to the industry. Participants for the trial will need to be based in Cornwall and should contact the group administrators to apply.

The quota application mechanism pilot is designed to allocate quota based on the strength of applications. It is open to all English registered sectoral vessels with applications to be submitted via a producer organisation. Those interested in applying should contact their producer organisation.
