Details

In May 2013, the department published an analysis of male to female births ratios in the UK between 2007 and 2011, alongside a breakdown by mothers’ country of birth. No group was found to have a ratio that was different from the naturally expected range, providing no evidence of sex selection occurring in the UK. An updated analysis has been produced using data from 2008 to 2012, expanded to include the child’s ethnicity.
