Andrew Taylor has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from The Moss at Birley Hay, Ridgeway, Sheffield at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 39756 80351.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 490 cubic metres an hour
  • 11,750 cubic metres a day
  • 2,585,000 cubic metres a year
  • All year.

The water will be used to generate electricity. All of the abstracted water will be returned to The Moss downstream at NGR SK 39984 80381.
