Anglian Water Services Limited: application made to abstract water

Anglian Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The following applications have been made to replace on the same terms time limited conditions to existing licences which are due to expire on 31 December 2022:
Application Number: NPS/WR/036691; Licence Number: 6/33/37/*G/0343 Source of water, location and National Grid Reference: Groundwater in Suffolk at TL 71 64; The variation being: Abstraction from an additional source at 146 cubic metres per hour, 3,500 cubic metres per day and 1,000,000 cubic metres per year. Abstraction total to remain 3,500 cubic metres per day and 1,000,000 cubic metres per year. The licence is also subject to a number of group aggregates with other licences these are not changing.
Application Number: NPS/WR/036710; Licence Number: 8/37/31/*G/0133; Source of water, location and National Grid Reference: Groundwater in Essex at TL 65 31; The variation being: Abstraction from an additional source (5) at 9,080 cubic metres per day. No increase in authorised quantities.
Application Number: NPS/WR/036692; Licence Number: 6/33/39/G/0008; Source of water, location and National Grid Reference: Groundwater in Cambridgeshire at TL 64 72 and TL 64 73; The variation being: Increased abstraction from 5,680 to 5,700 cubic metres per day and 1,136,500 to 1,650,000 cubic metres per year. The addition of a licence aggregate condition with licences AN/033/0037/001/R02, 6/33/39/G/0012, 6/33/56/G/0055 and 6/33/56/G/0096 of 9,055,000 cubic metres per year.
For all applications the water will be abstracted all year and used for public water supply.

The Applicant opposes reductions being made to the authorised annual abstraction quantities, designed to avoid the risk of waterbody deterioration, being made immediately, citing (amongst other things) over-riding public interest under Regulation 19 of the Water Environment (Water Framework Directive) (England and Wales) Regulations 2017.
