Anglian Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising of superficial sands and gravels (River Terrace Deposits) between Grantham and Peterborough and Etton and Bexwell and within the boundaries formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References (NGRs):
TF 08 13, TF 10 14, TF 15 05 and TF 14 04; between TF 14 05, TF 18 05, TF 18 05, and TF 14 04; and between TF 24 06, TF 27 05, TF 27 04, and TF 24 05, for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use, to within the boundaries formed by straight lines running between the following NGRs:
TF 08 14, TF 09 15, TF 15 05, and TF 14 04; between TF 18 05, TF 18 05, TF 14 04, and TF 13 05; and between TF 24 05, TF 24 06, TF 28 05, and TF 28 04.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 840 cubic metres an hour
- 20,000 cubic metres a day
- 1,100,000 cubic metres a year
Abstraction will take place all year for the purpose of dewatering groundwater.
