Anglian Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from clay soil on chalk bed rock at Dereham, Norfolk in an area bounded by National Grid References TF 97530 13856, TF 97570 13856, TF 97530 13887, and TF 97570 13887, to transfer it to an un-named surface watercourse at National Grid Reference TF 97517 13833 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 18 cubic metres an hour

  • 432 cubic metres a day

  • 52,272 cubic metres a year

The purpose of the abstraction is lowering of groundwater levels to facilitate construction activity.
