Fees payable by the operator of an establishment or plant to apply for approval or conditional approval to process animal by-products
Under Article 20 of the Official Controls Regulation.
You must pay for application assessments whether your application is approved or not.
How APHA charges for time spent
You must pay per quarter hour or less for APHA’s time spent inspecting your premises, processing your application and travelling to and from your premises.
APHA calculates your inspection and travel fees to the next full quarter hour (15 minutes) of work. For example, if APHA spends 20 minutes on your inspection, you will pay for half an hour.

How APHA charges for time spent
You must pay per quarter hour or less for APHA’s time spent:
- inspecting your premises if the site visit is longer than 30 minutes
- organising an inspection site visit
APHA calculates your inspection and organising fees to the next full quarter hour (15 minutes) of work. For example, if, after the first 30 minutes, APHA spends an extra 20 minutes on your inspection, you will pay for half an hour.
