The Animal Sentience Committee sent this letter to the EFRA committee on 12 March 2024. It includes:
- an initial assessment of the changes to bovine identification policy and its potential impact on animal welfare
- recommendations to maintain the current policy implementation strategy, by not retroactively tagging existing stock with electronic identification ear tags (eID) and to monitor tag failure rates
