Details

The Renters (Reform) Bill will give private tenants the right to request a pet that landlords cannot unreasonably refuse. It also contains provisions allowing landlords to charge the tenant for the cost of insurance covering pet damage. This document contains the government’s response to the Animal Sentience Committee’s (ASC) report on whether the policy in the Renters (Reform) Bill has due regard to the welfare of animals as sentient beings. It responds to each of the Committee’s 5 recommendations.
