Iceland: Entry into force of Double Taxation Convention

The Double Taxation Convention between the UK and Iceland, which was signed in London on 17 December 2013, entered into force on 10 November 2014.

Details of the debate by the First Delegated Legislation Committee of 30 June 2014 may be found in the House of Commons official report, following which the draft Order was approved by Parliament on 1 July 2014.
How the provisions of the Agreement take effect
In the United Kingdom in respect of:
- income tax and capital gains tax, for any year of assessment beginning on or after 6 April 2015
- corporation tax, for any financial year beginning on or after 1 April 2015
In Iceland in respect of:
- taxes withheld at source, to income derived on or after 1 January 2015
- other taxes on income, to taxes chargeable for any tax year beginning on or after 1 January 2015
