Details

The 66th annual report by the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest. The report covers the period 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2021, in which 10 cases were considered by the Reviewing Committee. Nine cases were deferred by the Secretary of State following the recommendation of the Committee.

Three items were bought by institutions in the UK:

  • a Romano-British mosaic pavement, removed from the Roman villa at Dewlish in Dorset, and attributed to the Durnovarian School
  • a set of ten ink and watercolour drawings depicting the progress and defeat of the Spanish Armada, thought to date from circa 1589
  • ‘Death of Cleopatra’, a nineteenth century ivory and bronze statuette on red a marble and ebony, by Henry-Joseph-François, Baron de Triqueti
