Additional information: Environmental Statement
Updated 24 July 2023
Applies to England
After first cultivation, archaeological fieldwalking will be undertaken by a qualified contractor, organisation or team.
It will also be undertaken after each period of cultivation in the intervals in the Environmental Statement. This is cultivation to 8 inches once every 7 years.
This will ensure unstratified archaeological material in the plough soils is identified and collected.
Fieldwalking results will be given to the relevant Historic Environment Record. Where necessary, they’ll be reported to the local Finds Liaison Officer.
