Before you apply, you must follow the guidance on how to protect a geographical food or drink name.

Download and save each template to your desktop to fill in electronically. Remember to save your template after you’ve filled it in.

Complete your:

  • product specification template
  • summary single document template (up to 2,500 words)

Email your PDO or PGI application

Email both templates and any supporting evidence to: ukgiapplications@defra.gov.uk.

Add ‘Protected food names’ to the subject field of your email.

Northern Ireland applicants must state if they’re applying to the EU scheme, UK scheme, or both schemes.
