Details
If you are able to, it is strongly suggested you use the online application process as this is the quickest and most efficient way to make your application. Help to complete the online application process is available from our assisted digital provider.
You can apply online if your passport or national identity card has expired and you wish to rely on alternative evidence of your identity and nationality or of your entitlement to apply from outside the UK.
The deadline for most people to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme was 30 June 2021.
In some cases you can still apply after 30 June 2021. Check if you can still apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.
If you can still apply to the scheme, you can do so using a paper application form where:
- you are having significant difficulty applying through the online application process and that cannot be resolved with support from our assisted digital provider
- you do not hold a valid passport or national identity card and wish to rely on alternative evidence of your identity and nationality (or of your entitlement to apply from outside the UK)
If you can still apply to the scheme, you will need to apply using a paper application form where you’re applying as:
- the family member of a British citizen you lived with in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein by 31 December 2020 and you returned with them to the UK
- the family member of a British citizen who is also a citizen of an EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, and they lived in the UK as a citizen of one of those countries before becoming a British citizen
- the child (who is in education in the UK) of someone from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein who used to live and work in the UK
You and your child can also not apply using the online service if by 31 December 2020 you were the primary carer of a:
- British citizen (and you did not have another type of permission to stay in the UK)
- child of someone from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein who used to live and work in the UK – the child must be in education in the UK
- self-sufficient child from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein
To obtain one of these forms, you should contact the Resolution Centre.
You must send your application form and supporting documents to the Home Office by post, to:
