Details
This report provides information on the volumes and outcomes of apprenticeship end-point assessments (EPAs) taken by apprentices in England from March 2022 to February 2023.
The data in this report only relates to EPAs regulated by Ofqual. It does not include integrated higher and degree apprenticeships regulated by the Office for Students.
This is the first time Ofqual has published EPA data. This is possible now that the majority of EPAs have transitioned from a range of External Quality Assurance Providers to Ofqual regulation.
The data shows that, between March 2022 and February 2023:
- 121 awarding organisations delivered Ofqual regulated EPAs across 388 apprenticeship standards
- 124,750 EPAs regulated by Ofqual were taken by apprentices and 110,575 EPAs were completed
- Business administration has the highest volume of EPAs, with 30,005 completed across different apprenticeships. This equates to 27.1% of all completed EPAs regulated by Ofqual
- City and Guilds delivered the highest number of EPAs (11,610 EPAs completed). This equates to 10.5% of all completed EPAs regulated by Ofqual
Publishing information about EPA outcomes helps secure parity of treatment for apprentices, by helping to give a definitive picture of the number of apprentices taking regulated EPA.
Ofqual regulates on behalf of students of all ages and apprentices. Ofqual focuses its regulatory activity, research and engagement on making sure that qualifications, including EPAs, are good quality, as fair as they can be and that they meet the needs of qualification users.
