IFF Research conducted this research on behalf of the Department for Education.

The learner survey looks at:

  • routes into apprenticeships
  • motivations for doing an apprenticeship
  • experiences of training, including off the job training and end point assessments
  • satisfaction with the apprenticeship
  • quality and content of the apprenticeship, including working hours and pay
  • outcomes and impact on careers

The non-completer survey looks at the experiences of learners who did not complete their apprenticeship, including:

  • reasons for non-completion
  • activity since leaving the apprenticeship

The employer survey looks at:

  • employers’ experiences of offering apprenticeships
  • who they took on and to what types of apprenticeship
  • motivations for offering apprenticeships
  • satisfaction and benefits
  • future provision of apprenticeships
