Aquazoom Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from the River Frome immediately upstream of the weir at Ebley Mill in Stroud, Gloucestershire at National Grid Reference (NGR) SO 82965 04555.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 12,121 cubic metres an hour
- 290,908 cubic metres a day
- 106,181,712 cubic metres a year
- At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 3,367 litres per second.
The water will be used to generate hydro-electric power (HEP) before returning to the River Frome approximately at NGR SO 82965 04542, immediately downstream of the weir.
