Healthcare professionals can use this resource to estimate the number of people with atrial fibrillation in their local area. The data also shows the variation in the condition across the local area. This can help with planning and commissioning local services.
The estimates are at GP practice and CCG level and for the whole of England. The data presents estimates for male, female and total population. The population and recorded prevalence data used was from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (now NHS Digital).
Prevalence rates from a Swedish population study have been applied to local areas in England. The estimates show where prevalence is lower than expected if the local population demographics were the same as in Sweden.
