Details

This HMPPS policy framework brings together existing policies on communications controls and interception into one policy framework. It sets out the rules and guidance for staff and will improve HMPPS’ ability to manage communication risks and to help mitigate potential security threats whilst protecting the public and supporting the rehabilitation of prisoners.

This policy framework replaces PSI 04/2016: The interception of communications in prisons and security measures.

The new Approved Contacts Scheme will be implemented from January 2023.
