On 9 March 2018, Ofqual accepted an undertaking from AVA.

Following an Ofqual investigation, AVA admitted that its systems and processes for the identification of conflicts of interest and for the retention of information necessary for the delivery and award of valid qualifications, were not fit for purpose.

AVA agreed that the defects in its processes would put at risk the validity of any results or certificates it might issue. It would not issue results or certificates without Ofqual’s agreement and would not register any new learners.

Following a further investigation, Ofqual decided on 4 May 2018 that recognition would be withdrawn from AVA.
