Oseltamivir for pre and post exposure prophylaxis of non H7N9 avian influenza: PGD template

This PGD template has been developed for use in incidents involving avian influenza strains other than avian influenza A H7N9. The PGD template is to support the supply of oseltamivir for pre and post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) of avian influenza as a public health measure in adults and children aged one year or older. It was reviewed and updated in December 2021. It’s valid from 3 December 2021 until 2 December 2024.

Oseltamivir for post exposure prophylaxis of avian influenza A (H7N9): PGD template

This PGD template has been developed to support the supply of oseltamivir for post exposure prophylaxis of avian influenza A (H7N9) as a public health measure in adults and children aged one year or older.  It was reviewed and updated in December 2021. It’s valid from 3 December 2021 until 2 December 2024.

These PGD templates require further authorisation by a clinical governance or patient safety lead, who has designated responsibility for signing PGDs, so the documents meet legal requirements for PGDs. The PGDs are not legal or valid without this local, formal authorisation.

Adoption and governance of the use of these PGDs is the responsibility of the authorising commissioning body and providers.

Provider organisations and health professionals should check they are working to the current PGD versions and only work to a legally authorised PGD from their commissioning body.

There is also guidance and algorithms for managing avian influenza incidents in birds.
